Are you considering going somewhere warm and fun for your upcoming Easter vacation? We don’t blame you! Even if you just have a few days off work or school, going somewhere where you can hit the beach, spend time outside, and enjoy annual Easter events is crucial to enjoying your quality time with your loved ones. Forget just sitting inside on a cold and blustery day, ordering takeout from a nearby restaurant – we have a much better idea.

Sanibel is a tropical and warm destination spot that has tons of Easter events happening. Not only can you do the typical activities here, like going to the beach, walking along the boardwalk, frequenting the nearby bars, and sipping coffee at a cool cafe, but you can enjoy Easter egg hunts, brunches, and everything in between.

Get Outside and Enjoy the Warm Weather This Easter in Sanibel

The best thing to do on Easter Sunday during your time in Sanibel is to get outside, feel the sun on your face, feel the wind in your hair, and feel the sand in between your toes! We love going for a walk along the J.D. Ding Wildlife National Park, taking in the sights and sounds of the local wildlife, flora, and fauna. Not to mention, this wildlife park features a “Ding” Darling Day, with urban bridging viewing with professionals, nature writing about the animals you see, and viewing art demonstrations from local professionals.

You can also head to one of the numerous beaches and walk along the coastline, gazing out at the bright blue water, the white waves crashing down, and the far-reaching views of white sand beaches, palm trees, and fishing piers.

Easter Egg Hunt

No easter is complete without an easter egg hunt! On April 17th, you can head to the Adventures in Paradise business to check out their yearly exciting event that is sure to have the kids up and ready to go early in the morning. Hop on this Easter cruise at either 10 am or 10:45 am to feel the breeze in your hair and get a different viewpoint of the coastline of Sanibel Island. Not only can you take a tour of the beautiful area, but your kids can take part in the easter egg hunt to collect chocolates, fill up their basket, and meet the easter bunny for some memorable pictures for the photo book.

Easter Brunch

You might not want to admit it, but Sunday brunch is one of the best events of the week, and a holiday brunch is even better! Easter brunch is filled with boozy cocktails, good vibes, filled plates, large buffets, and much more. You don’t have to go somewhere fancy to enjoy time with your family, as you can find local pubs, cool cafes, and country clubs that offer prix-fixe brunch, buffets, or large plates for a reasonable price per person.

We love going to Lighthouse Cafe on Sanibel Island to experience amazing views, down-home cooking, and relaxed plates that are priced fairly. With an unbeatable view that is right on the edge of the coastline, it is no wonder that so many people come here every single day of the week. Start your day with a lighthouse mimosa or Bloody Mary, two boozy cocktails that are filled with your choice of champagne or vodka to truly celebrate the holiday! Then, pair this yummy drink with one of their pan-handled egg dishes, like the Eggs Benedict with smoked ham, two poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce.

Or you can truly one of their famous lighthouse frittatas with turkey, broccoli, fresh mushrooms, cream cheese, and homemade hollandaise sauce that is sure to knock your socks off. For the kids who are in the mood for something sweet, you can’t go wrong with ordering the malted hot cakes with your choice of additions, like chocolate chips, strawberries, granola, sliced bananas, or blueberries.

Another great restaurant to check out during your stay this Easter in Sanibel is the Over Easy Cafe located conveniently on Tarpon Bay Road in downtown Sanibel. Open every day from 7 am to 3pm, you may have been here before — but coming here for Easter brunch is the best way to start the day early before you claim your spot on the beach!

Book Your Escape

We recommend bringing the kids so they can enjoy one of the sweet treats and many freshly squeezed juices, like the stuffed French toast with a large cup of OJ. For adults who want something seafood oriented, you can’t go wrong with the famous Smoked Salmon Benedict. To share with the table, we love getting the homemade sticky buns. Once you have one, you can’t go back! You will end up ordering a dozen to take back home to your accommodation to have the next morning for breakfast – and the next, and the next, and so on!
